As class sizes grow, the quality of education for our children suffers. The current class-size limit of 22 students to one teacher in each classroom in grades K through 4 is under attack. Sign the petition below to support the class-size law.

Why is this law only for K - 4? I teach high school and have over 30 students in each class. So much instruction time is lost for discipline and the pace of the class is slowed because after all, you can only go along as fast as the slowest student in the class.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree. Not only that, I have 21 boys and 7 girls in one class...why didn't they just put all boys in there, makes it a little easier!!! Anyway, my other classes are as big or bigger than my class of 28. I am spending loads of time telling them to be quiet...can't wait to get down to real work and see how that goes! I was told a few years ago, by a principal/administrator, that studies show that class size in hs does not matter...I'm sure the classes he coached were not as big as the classes I'm supposed to teacher (yes, I'm a coach too, but I teach first). Can you tell I'm frustrated??? So glad it's time to retire!
